Job Description

Under the direction of the shop manager, repairs and maintains all fleet equipment in a timely fashion to ensure the safe, dependable, and efficient operation of all Company vehicles and equipment.
Repairs and provides maintenance services in the following areas: Gasoline Engines, Diesel Engines, Drive Trains, Hydraulic Systems, Air and Hydraulic Brake Systems, Suspension and Steering, and Electrical / Electronic Systems.


  • Operate all types of earthmoving, paving, seal coating, slurry, and automotive equipment for repair purposes.
  • Perform all phases of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenances, to include welding.
  • Complete both minor and major repair of vehicles and equipment in the shop.
  • Work under tight time constraints
  • Interface with field crew operators and or supervisors.
  • Utilize Service and Parts manuals.
  • Order & pick up parts when required.
  • Accurately annotate work orders and time sheets
  • Lift heavy parts and implements in excess of 100lbs
  • Assist with training of apprentice mechanics when required
  • Must be certified to do DOT annual inspections or be able to get certified
  • Special Projects as Needed

Skills / Requirements

  • Combination of any of the following training or certifications:  ASE certification, equipment manufacturer’s certifications in a related field, or technical vocational school.
  • CDL Class A driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum 5 years of repair & maintenance experience on a heavy truck, automotive, and earth moving equipment.
  • Possess own hand tools up to 2”, air tools, miscellaneous tooling needed to perform the job, and a lockable toolbox.
  • Proficient, at making repairs in the following areas:  Gasoline Engines, Diesel Engines, Engine Performance, Drive Trains, Hydraulic Systems, Air and Hydraulic Brake Systems, Suspension and Steering, Electrical / Electronic Systems, H.V.A.C., and Welding
