Ace Asphalt has an opening for a Paving CDL Laborer in Arizona. This key position contributes to the project team in building successful construction projects.

Job Summary:

Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in residential/commercial construction projects; performs manual work in preparing surfaces for paving.

  • Supervisor

Supervises:

  • None

Essential Functions:

  • Willing to travel to any and all job sites without exception (including overnight stays out of town).
  • Able to lift and move product and load their truck
  • Perform basic paving repair and maintenance tasks
  • Reports safety hazards and traffic problems
  • Work extended hours & irregular days with irregular breaks.
  • Responsible for loading their truck, strapping down material and driving to the jobsite.
  • Required to maintain necessary logs, driving records and DOT certifications.
  • Complete Daily pre and post trip inspections of vehicle.

Skills / Requirements

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in related Paving roles
  • 2+ years of commercial driving experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Class A CDL
  • Must be able to work in a safety sensitive position.
  • Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Self-starter.
  • Meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. Ready and working at start of shift.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
  • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in heavy highway construction work.
  • Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
  • Takes initiative – always looks for better, smarter and more efficient ways to work
  • Provides solutions to problems.
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
  • Ability to utilize the available time to organize, and complete work within given deadlines.
  • Valid driver license and dependable transportation.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Minimum 40 hours per week with overtime as needed.
  • Some weekend and night work required depending on job requirements.
  • Hearing sufficient for being aware of back-up alarms, hearing equipment and for normal conversations.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 75 pounds, walk, climb, stand, bend and stoop for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and adhere to applicable safety policies.
  • Must be able to complete work tasks under various weather conditions including heat in excess of 100 degrees.
  • Acceptable level of correctable vision for Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral and Depth Perception.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, steel toe boots, seat belt, gloves, etc.
  • Use of both arms and legs required.
